Description
Running the Mile” is a comprehensive guide designed for both beginners and experienced runners looking to improve their endurance, technique, and overall performance in distance running. This book provides in-depth insights into the essential aspects of long-distance running, from proper preparation and training strategies to injury prevention and recovery.
The book starts by guiding readers through the initial steps of getting into distance running, emphasizing the importance of medical check-ups, selecting the right gear, and developing a structured training plan. It highlights key components such as Fartlek training, interval running, hill workouts, and tempo runs, helping runners build speed, strength, and endurance gradually.
Nutrition is a critical factor in running success, and “Running the Mile” dedicates an entire section to the importance of carbohydrates, hydration, and essential nutrients needed for peak performance. The book explains how proper meal planning, electrolyte balance, and hydration strategies can prevent fatigue and optimize energy levels for long-distance running.
Another vital aspect covered is injury prevention and recovery. The book identifies common mistakes runners make, such as increasing mileage too quickly or failing to allow sufficient recovery time. It provides practical advice on how to avoid these pitfalls, along with recommendations for strengthening joints, improving flexibility, and using rest periods effectively.
Beyond physical training, “Running the Mile” explores the psychological benefits of running. It discusses the mental resilience and discipline gained through consistent practice, as well as the emotional and stress-relieving effects of running. The book also introduces strategies to stay motivated, set personal goals, and push past mental barriers.
Whether you’re training for your first race, aiming to improve your personal best, or simply running for fitness, “Running the Mile” equips you with the knowledge and techniques needed to succeed. With its well-structured guidance, expert tips, and practical strategies, this book serves as an essential resource for anyone passionate about distance running.

I am 6 feet tall and 220 lbs. This shirt fit me perfectly in the chest and shoulders. My only complaint is that it is so long! I like to wear polo shirts untucked. This shirt goes completely past my rear end. If I wore it with ordinary shorts, you probably wouldnt be able to see the shorts at all – completely hidden by the shirt. It needs to be 4 to 5 inches shorter in terms of length to suit me. I have many RL polo shirts, and this one is by far the longest. I dont understand why.

The shirt was not the fabric I believed it to be. It says Classic Fit but was made like the older versions, not the soft cotton like my others. I don’t understand how the labels are the same but a completely different shirt. Oh well, stuck with it now.
